Mushrooms and Apologies

Okay so hiya!
I am so sorry that I haven't posted in a year (seriously) but I really want to start up the blog again.

So today me and my friend Clara had a sleepover and even though her mum was coming to pick her up in half an hour, we wanted to cook something. So we decided to fry up some mushrooms.

*****
My Favorite Way To Cook Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • As many mushrooms of any type as you would like (we used a little less than a pack)
  • Lots of olive oil
  • White wine (looks like too much)
  • Oregano
  • Tarragon
  • Pepper and salt (as much to taste)
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Anything else you want to put in

Heat the olive oil up. Then pour in themushrooms. Add the salt and pepper. Once the mushrooms are cooked a little, pour in the white wine. Make it look like you put in too much. Put in the flavorings. Mix constantly until they seem cooked. Pour everything into a bowl and enjoy. Heat up for a nice snack!

I hope you enjoy,

Making Butter!

******

Hiya!
Are you sick of disgusting store bought butter? If you are thats great, and if you aren't thats fine too. There are many reasons for home-made butter! (sorry for the annoying sales person talk, it just came out of me...) I made it today, and it was DELICIOUS!!! It is fun, easy, and quick to make and it really do taste good. To get the recipe just click on this link:

All you need is cream, a food processor and maybe some other average cooking utensils.

Wassail!

Hi! Happy Holidays!

******

In school we had a party to celebrate the holidays! The party was with our second grade buddies and we cooked and drank wassail! Wassail is a warm, Christmassy drink that is very delicious and festive. I suggest you make it! Here is the recipe: (this recipe makes 180 oz)
Wassail:

1 gallon of apple cider
46 oz of pineapple juice
3/4 of a cup of tea

This makes 36 servings of 5 oz, so if you don't want that much you should halve the recipe...
Enjoy!

Roast Chicken, Caesar Salad, and Rice

******

Hello!
This is a recipe that is simple, easy and tasty. It is a combination of four average foods put together to create a meal. It is not one of my favorites but definitely a good option to try out.
Ingredients:

Whole Chicken (with bone)
Any Flavoring you want for your chicken (optional)
White Wine - pour
Chicken Stock - some
Lettuce - enough
Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional)
Croutons (optional)
Dressing (optional)
Rice - as much as you need
Butter - enough to cover a chicken

1. Rub the butter on your chicken and sprinkle with salt.
2. Put the chicken on a roasting pan and roast at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes per pound + 20 minutes over (3 pounds = 3 x 20 +20 = 80)
3. Make rice (different brands require different procedures).
4. Add lettuce to a bowl, then add grated parmesan cheese, dressing and croutons.
5. Take the chicken out, spoon out most of the fat then de-glaze the pan with the chicken stock and white wine to make a yummy sauce.
6. Serve!

Greetings!
Sorry I have not been able to post lately....
I wanted to tell you that I have been doing this really cool thing; I cook dinner every Tuesday! It is really fun, I get to explore new foods, and I gain the responsibility of cooking.
It think it is a great way to get my cooking skills and practice up.

Rose Water Madeleines

******

This is an amazing cake-y cookie thing flavored with rose (the best thing in the world). It was amazing, and I definitely recommend cooking them. Now, this recipe is English, so if your American and don't want to wing it, then look up "English and American Cooking Conversion Chart." Also you will need special Madeleine Molds For These. Makes 18.

125g butter
2 eggs
100g caster sugar
100g plain flour, sieved
Juice and finely grated zest of 1/2 lemon
2 tbsp rose water, or 70 drops of rose extract
100g icing sugar
Dried rose petals (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 190/gas 5. Melt the butter in a pan. Use a little to grease the molds and leave the rest to cool.
2. Using an electric whisk, beat the eggs and sugar until fluffy. Fold in the flour using a metal spoon. Stir in the butter, lemon zest and one tablespoon of rosewater (40 drops of rose extract). Fill your molds with the mixture and bake for 8 mins or until golden
3. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl and stir the remaining rosewater/extract and enough lemon juice to thin.
4. Turn the cakes out onto a rack to cool, then drizzle with icing and sprinkle with dried rose petals.

I enjoyed them very much and hope you can cook them.

Weird Drink

******

Today I made this weird drink that I wanted to show you because it is poison and I want to kill you all. Just kidding! This is the recipe: Get lime juice, large grain salt, fizzy water and sugar. (lots of sugar!) First pour in as much of the fizzy water as you want to drink, then add a couple squirts of lime juice. Then add five spoonfuls of sugar. Then add a pinch of salt. For decrotive use, you can line the top of the glass with the drink, and then sprinkle the salt over the top. (it will stick) I don't love this drink, but it is refreshing and cool.
